Inscription reads;

In memory of Mary Watson. Who departed this life June 16th 1789 aged 19 years.

Parish Register; June 18th 1789 Mary daughter of Margaret Watson, widow buried.

This gravestone is of particular interest. Again it was rescued from “Kew Villa”, Kilnsea (see here for article), but it is the only gravestone that we know of that originally came from the old churchyard that washed away in 1826. We assume it was recovered prior to it falling over the cliff, and then brought to Easington and placed in the churchyard, possibly because her mother is buried here. But why it was taken back to Kilnsea and eventually used as a path stone we may never know.
