Inscription reads;
In memory of three beloved children of John and Ann Medforth. Eliza died March 27th 1882 aged 3 years & 2 months. Jane died March 31st 1882 aged 3 years & 2 months. Newsam died April 29th 1882 aged 5 weeks. Of such is the kingdom of God.

In the 1881 census records, John Medforth and his wife Ann residing at North End Road, Easington aged 39 and 37 respectively, John being a joiner by trade, having 3 children Jane, Eliza and George. (Two of the above recorded on the gravestone.)
