Inscription reads;
In memory of Sarah, the wife of Michael Tiddy who died 7th September 1857 aged 47 years. Also Sarah Ann Tiddy daughter of the above who died 5th May 1856 aged 11 years. Let me die the death of the Righteous and let my last end be like his.

The 1851 census records Michael Tiddy and his wife Sarah, aged 34 and 39 respectively, he being listed as a Coastguard (born in St. Maw, Cornwall), Sarah (born at Seaton Devon) having three children; Sarah Ann, as above on the stone, aged 6, Louisa age 4, and Lavinia age 2.
