Inscription reads;
Sacred to the memory of Mercy Longhorn who departed this life the 22 of September 1817 aged 16 years. A flower cut down before its prime and withered now am I. Young people all take care in time prepare yourselves to die. For death hath summon’sd me to come. Whear all at last must thear resort.
