Inscription reads;
In memory of William Green mariner the son of Anne and Willm. Green. He died 20th Feb 1789 aged 22 years. The boreas winds and neptunes waves have tossed me too and fro, But Gods divine assistance I harbour here below, Where I at anchor safe do lie with many of our fleet, Yet once again I must set sail, Our admiral Christ to meet.
