Ann Douglas - Age 46 Years

Inscription reads;
In affectionate remembrance of Ann the wife of Robert Douglas who died on the 10th of December 1869 aged 46 years. Lo hear I lie by my dear babe all covered with cold clay, Hoping with joy to meet our Lord, At the eternal day.

The 1861 census records Robert Douglas age 47 a farm labourer residing with his wife Ann age 37 at Blackwell Row Easington, along with 6 children, Robert 12, Eliza 10, Elizabeth 7, Sarah 5, Emma 3, Ellen 1 and a Christiana Mundby 47, charwoman.
