Inscription reads:In affectionate remembrance of GRACE and LUCY daughters of JOHN and MIRIAM CUTHBERT who died on the 9th May 1874, the former aged 8 the latter aged 7 years.
In childhoods gayest moment
when in the act of play
That yonder mill machinery.
Our sweet lives took away.
Mourn not for us dear parents.
We quickly reached the shore.
Where ever blooming spring abides.
And grief is known no more.

Also GEORGE WILLIAM son of the above who died in infancy.

The above grave stone records a tragic event. The two little girls Grace and Lucy Cuthbert were the daughters of John and Miriam Cuthbert, John was the local miller who owned and ran the windmill at nearby Dimlington. His two daughters were playing in the mill one day, when one of them was caught in the mill stones her sister tried to save her, but unfortunately was also killed in the accident.
